On our second day in Reykjavik we went into the city on our own. The shuttle cost $9 per person, each way, so we figured we could walk the two miles and save $36. The path was along the water and very pleasant. It was another sunny day in the low 60s. We walked through the old town, where there are now lots of shops and restaurants.
We saw the house where Reagan and Gorbachev met in 1986.
The Lutheran Church (Hallgrimskirkja) is the largest church in Iceland and very unusual looking.
We had lunch at Te and Kaffi, kind of the Icelandic version of Starbuck's. We walked back to the ship in time for tea and a 4:30 sailing. We ended up walking 5.7 miles. Well into the Atlantic we looked out and saw a huge rock out in the middle of nowhere. It was covered with thousands of birds. Very mysterious.
