At Sea - February 25, 2014

The last of four days at sea.  The weather has been very rainy, except for today, which wasn't rainy but was cloudy.  On Day Three we crossed the equator in the middle of the afternoon.  Here are photos of just before and just after the crossing on our TV screen showing our position.

We've attended two lectures by John Maxtone-Graham, a maritime historian.  He reportedly made his first Atlantic crossing from England at the age of six months and has been sailing ever since.  He's written several books on the history of sailing and has been quite entertaining.

A few days ago we were informed that a number of passengers onboard were suffering from what appeared to be norovirus, so we've gone into super-sanitation mode.  Utensils are wrapped in saran wrap and handed out to us.  And we are no longer allowed to serve ourselves in the buffet.  It's kind of a nuisance, but we do appreciate efforts to contain the illness.  We're being extra careful with hand washing.
