For the last day we've been sailing among the hundreds of
small islands off the coast of Chile. The first day we went through the Beagle
Channel and saw several glaciers. The
passage was very narrow, so we had closeup views of really spectacular scenery.
We arrived in Punta Arenas
early this morning. We had no plans
other than to go ashore (by tender) and do a little walking. Unfortunately, the wind kicked up and the
trip ashore was very long and rough. So
we opted instead to stay on board the ship today. As the day wore on, the weather became worse,
and eventually the tender runs were stopped, other than to bring passengers
back to the ship.
The big project of the day was a haircut for David.
We were quite late in sailing, close to 9:00. We sailed for Puerto
Montt, Chile,
by way of the Amalia Glacier.
