Chicago - February 11, 2014

After walking the .7 mile to the Palmer House, with the temperature at 9, we crawled into bed and got a couple more hours of sleep.  One of the advantages to arriving so late to the hotel was that we got one heck of an upgrade.  We have a very large room with a sitting area, two beds, and two bathrooms.  It's incredibly nice.

We had oatmeal for breakfast at a cafe in the hotel.  Then we went out to face the cold.  It was 0.  Our first stop was at Super Clips for my haircut.  I had planned very carefully to get a haircut at home the day before we left, but with the big snow, I didn't get it.  After my haircut, we walked across the street to the Art Institute, where we spent most of the day.  We had a nice lunch there.  Around tea time, we went back to the hotel and had tea in the Starbuck's there.  Since we really didn't feel like going out in the cold again, we had dinner in the hotel restaurant.  It was quite good, but not cheap.
