Athens, Greece - November 16, 2017

Another port, another drenching.  There was rain in the forecast, so we took our raincoats.  We planned to take the X80 express bus from the port of Pyraeus to Athens to see some of the sights.  After waiting about ten minutes at the bus stop we realized that is was not running.  At the nearby ticket kiosk the man told us to take the 843 bus to the metro station, then take the metro to Athens.  We did as he suggested, getting off near the Agora.  We planned to walk through the city to the Acropolis, but by the time we came out of the metro station it was pouring rain.  We waited ten minutes or so, but no let up.  So we decided to go back to the metro, ride it one stop, and then transfer to another line with a stop close to the Acropolis.  We got off but it was still pouring.  We killed a little time in a cafe.  Still pouring.  So we went out and walked a few blocks to the Acropolis.  We didn't go in, but we could see it on top of the hill.  By this time we were totally drenched, so we got back on the metro and retraced our steps.  By the time we arrived back at Pyraeus the rain had stopped.  So we walked the 20-minute walk back to the ship.  Late in the afternoon it cleared, so we took a walk along the pier.  Before we got back it started to sprinkle.

Miles walked: 6.6
