The forecast for Chania was an 80% chance of rain. There was really nothing special we wanted to
do here, so we decided to sit tight and keep and eye on the weather. When we got up it was raining, but by about 9:00 it had stopped, so we decided to chance
it. We were glad we did. We bought tickets on a city bus, for 1.7
Euros each, that dropped us off in the center of the city near the old town,
about 4 km from the ship. There were some nice narrow streets with shops, but
after Rhodes we were spoiled. We did find a beautiful Greek Orthodox church
and a picturesque fishing harbor. We
rode the bus back to the ship and had lunch, remarkably still dry. Later in the afternoon we took another walk
near the port. There wasn't anything
special, just small homes and apartment buildings, with gardens full of
flowers, citrus trees, and chickens.
Miles walked: 5.7
