Dubrovnik, Croatia - November 13, 2017

After a day at sea, we arrived in Dubrovnik.  We learned that this is where the show Game of Thrones is filmed.  We ran into some people who were very excited about this.  Never having seen the program we were not that excited.  But it is a really neat city.  It's very clean, the people are polite, and the traffic is calm.  We took the local bus into the old town for $1.80 each.  The ship's shuttle was $16 each round trip.  The main feature of the old town is the wall around it, built in the 15th century, which can be walked.  In 1991 Yugoslavian troops invaded Croatia.  The citizens of Dubrovnik took shelter behind the walls, the first time the city had ever actually been attacked.  About 3/4 of the way around it started to rain.  By the time it ended we were soaked.  But we strolled around inside the area, where there are apartments and shops.  By the time we were finished, the sun was coming out, so we walked the two miles or so back to the ship, only getting lost once.

Miles walked: 5.9
