Lisbon, Portugal - October 31, 2017

After two sea days, we arrived in Lisbon at 8:00.  We had breakfast, packed a couple of snacks, and headed for the train station.  We weren't sure how far it was, but we set out on foot anyway.  It wasn't too bad a walk, uphill most of the way.  We got on the 10:00 train to Sintra.  After a forty minute ride, we arrived in Sintra, along with a couple of thousand other tourists. It's really a lovely hill town.  We walked for a while and then found a quick lunch.  We then continued walking, not sure where we might end up.  We knew the Pena Palace was pretty far, and the Moorish Castle was on top of a very high hill.  But we did find the Quinta da Regaleira, a fascinating 1912 mansion.  We didn't go inside, but we walked around the amazing rounds.  By 2:00 we'd had enough wading through the crowds, so we took the train back to Lisbon,  We arrived back on the ship in time for a late tea.

Miles walked:  8.3
